The Team and the Challenge
The two person team of Ex-Marks-The-Spot is composed of Jonathan Smith and Trygve Harris. We are authentic exes. Before breaking up we traveled extensively through the world together, much of it done by hitchhiking. Now, we're getting back together again, this time as friends, to attempt the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge.
The Challenge is to drive a car that cost less than £100 (about $180US) from Plymouth, on the south coast of England, to Banjul, the capital of the Gambia in West Africa. Participants set off in groups of about five cars on specified dates; ours is the 29th of December. Once on the road the rally is completely unsupported by the organizers; any trouble we get into is exclusively ours. If the clunkers make it to the Gambia, the Plymouth-Banjul organizers will then step in to help us put the vehicles on the auction block with the proceeds going to benefit local Gambian charities. For More information please visit the official Plymouth-Banjul Challenge website.
To help us get the vehicle to the Gambia we now have a page where you can donate money to the cause.
