Trygve Harris

Trygve Harris is allegedly American, originally from California, although this is not overly apparent. She generally lives in New York City where she owns Enfleurage, a company specializing in aromatics from the natural world. Possibly seriously disturbed, she has yet to outgrow hitchhiking and can be found happily ambling along the side of the road in many of the earth's more remote corners.

She loves exotic oils and incense and is somewhat knowledgeable about them due to her traipsing around the planet smelling things and is a known and adored pest to many experts. She hopes to find plenty of interesting aromatics throughout the Sahara.

Trygve also enjoys playing with dogs, chanting holy names in Sanskrit, and practices Taekwondo.

Although once a teenage driver, these days, in addition to hitchhiking, Ms. Harris is a public transport maven, enjoying subways, trains, buses and taxis throughout the world.

Jonathan Smith

Originally from some minor village in the north-east of England, Jonathan inadvertantly moved to America nineteen years ago. Except for long and frequent periods of extreme wanderlust he has and still lives exclusively in Santa Barbara, California.

Jonathan is a language fanatic and likes to pick up bits and pieces of local languages wherever he goes. This has prompted him to invent an entirely new way to speak the basics of a foreign tongue. You can get a glimpse of his creations at Fetchaphrase.com.

Unable to let his mind sit still for a minute, he is constantly bombarding himself with new projects, some for the internet, others for the Burning Man festival and yet more that are just plain loony, like trying to drive a old clunker across the Sahara. To help satisfy his creative urges, he also plays in the alternative gamelan band, Monkey C.

He almost lives with his girlfriend of 12 years, Alicia (he lives upstairs and she lives downstairs).
